Stopped by Basil Indian & Thai Cuisine because we were craving Indian food and this place did not disappoint! First time in but comparing to other Indian restaurants in Staten Island, this place impressed us. The appetizer chili chicken was a 9/10 on , it was a little bit too spicy for me but the flavor was tasty! I got my go to- chicken tikka masala and I would rate it a solid 9/10, delicious. My fiancé got the chicken tariwala and he enjoyed his meal. I would definitely return, try it for yourself!
If you’re looking for authentic Thai and Indian food… I highly recommend this place. I recently dined at Basil Indian & Thai Cuisine they are located in 3972 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, New York. The reservation was easy to make, the staff were extremely helpful in accommodating and friendly. The ambiance was great, the food is fantastic and lived up to my expectations. Two thumbs up and 5 stars! ⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ordered grubhub from here last night, food was magnificent! I even called ahead of time and asked for 2 sides of chutney sauce and they were nice enough to include it in my order. Food was amazing, I got the butter paneer with a side of garlic naan! Next I want to try their masala sauce. Everything was delicious truly a hidden gem on SI!! (I ate most of it in the pic I added lol I couldn’t wait)
Can i give more stars? This place is a hidden gem on Staten Island. I’ve been ordering takeout from Basil for a while now, and it quickly became my favorite spot for Thai and Indian fusion. The flavors are always spot on, the portions are generous, and everything travels well—but today was the first time I actually dined in. And let me tell you, it somehow got even better. The service was incredible—friendly, fast, and genuinely attentive. The restaurant itself was clean, cozy, and clearly well taken care of. You can tell the staff takes pride in what they do, from the spotless tables to the way the dishes are presented. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the freshness of the ingredients really shines when you eat in. If you’re looking for something different, delicious, and consistently excellent—Basil is a must-try. Highly recommend both for takeout and dining in!
I would recommend this restaurant. Meat lovers welcomed, vegan and vegetarian approved. I intended to take a picture of my main dish but I got distracted while eating the rosemary naan (SOOOOO delicious). If you want sauce for the naan remember to add the tikka masala sauce (amazing) because it doesn't automatically come with the naan. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful!
1 of our favorite restaurants on all of SI we were recommended Paneer tikka(for a gluten allergy) and has now become a regular craving. Papaya salad even though Thai was just as fresh & flavorful. The chicken saagWala was soooooo creamy and yummy. We gotta get here more often even the rices alone were spectacular. Naan always a must, fluffy and warm and perfect.
This spot makes the BEST Indian Desi food I have had. Just absolutely delicious and so flavorful. The staff were friendly and the place was super cute. The food could get spicy so to my fellow Desi people go for the medium spice level and for white people ask for very mild. I'm looking forward to going again and again.
Had an amazing experience last Saturday at Basil Indian Cuisine. The food tasted truly authentic and full of rich Indian flavors. We ordered the Lamb Biryani, Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, Lamb Vindaloo, and fresh naan bread, and every dish was excellent. The Lamb Biryani was perfectly seasoned with aromatic spices and tender meat. The Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken were both creamy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The Lamb Vindaloo had a great balance of spice and flavor and tasted very authentic. The naan bread came out hot, fresh, and soft and paired perfectly with all the dishes. The pricing was also very reasonable for the quality and portions. Most entrees were around $18–$21, and you can really tell they use quality ingredients and authentic spices. The service was outstanding as well. Everyone was welcoming, attentive, and made us feel comfortable from the moment we walked in. So far I’ve only tried their Indian food, but after this experience I’m definitely coming back to try their Thai dishes next. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Indian cuisine in Staten Island.
