Vinotinto Grill (Carne En Vara)

We had a great experience from beginning to end. As someone who is not Venezuelan and had never tried carne en vara before, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. The owners took the time to explain the tradition behind the dish, how the meat is prepared, and what makes it unique. They even gave us some samples to try before we ordered, which made the experience feel very welcoming and personal. The meat was incredibly flavorful, tender, and cooked perfectly. It was unlike anything I had tried before. Beyond the food, what really stood out was the warmth and hospitality. Everyone made us feel welcome, and you could tell they take pride in sharing a piece of Venezuelan culture with their guests. If you’re curious about Venezuelan cuisine or looking to try something new, I highly recommend this place. We’ll definitely be coming back.

If you are in Katy, Tx or around the area, and want to have a different experience, with good “carne en vara” steak, go to this place … I have Venezuelans friends, and love them, but after getting to know Don Luis (the owner) love them even more .. amazing customer service, extremely delicious steak flavor, perfectly cooked and the sides of yuca and salad was a perfect fresh complement, the cachapa it’s real corn you can taste it . This is not the only thing, as soon as you arrive Don Luis will ask you if you are new in the restaurant, if yes you will be “baptize” with a crunchy delicious peace of steak to welcome you to his Vinotinto family ! Honestly, the food was amazing. The workers are the sweetest! Even the owner of the place was there and because it was our family’s first time having lunch there, he gave us a piece of their meat welcoming us. A friend of my mom recommended this place, and I’ll tell you, it’s worth the time. It made me feel like I was home, very Venezuelan. The food, again, was great. I ordered Cachapas, and they were delicious too, but personally, the meat was the best out of all. Thank you Vinotinto Grill for the amazing service!! My family and I definitely are coming back.

Very nice place for Venezuelan “carne en vara”. Excellent meat, morcillas, chorizos, tostones y arepas. We had the Vino Tinto special for 5 people. It has everything and was enough. Desserts also very good. Service is also nice. The owners, Luis Cordero & wife were very nice. The ambiance is typical of a “llanero carne en vara place”. Prices are very reasonable.

Everything about this place is awesome! It brought me back childhood memories of La Colonia Tovar. The service was so welcoming, kind, and caring! The FOOD!!!! SO GOOD!!! The soup was hearty and flavorful, the blood sausage is to die for, the beef was well grilled and perfectly seasoned, the chicharrón is worth the blood pressure mini spike. Seriously, if you want to try Venezuelan BBQ, or simply miss home… this is your sign.

I feel sorry for the people who may have had a bad experience in the past because, based on our visit, it seems they have worked hard to improve anything that may have been wrong. The owners took the time to explain how they prepare the meat and even gave us samples to try before we ordered. My husband and his brother are from Chile, and they absolutely loved not only the food but also the warm Venezuelan hospitality. The quality of the food, the attention to detail, and the friendly atmosphere made our visit truly enjoyable. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience.
