Nice folks, great food at good prices, good AC. Free soup and hot tea for lunch specials! And most importantly, it’s not annoying noisy like a lot of Asian food places
Wow this restaurant is one of my new favorites in the Bay Area. I didn’t want rate this place 5 stars to move it further away from 3.5 stars but everything about this restaurant is excellent. The service is super friendly and quick and the food is top tier. The honey walnut shrimp is one of the best I have ever had and their mushroom and green beans were also very delicious. Highly recommend coming here!
We come here often because my in-laws love this place. I used to think the food was decent. But this time, the dishes we chose were pretty good. Especially the fried fish fillet.
Nestled in San Jose, California, Mayflower Restaurant may appear modest from the outside, but don't let its unassuming facade deceive you. This charming gem is a quintessential mom-and-pop establishment with hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. Upon entering, we were pleasantly surprised by the warm and inviting atmosphere. One unique feature that caught our attention was the ability to order directly from our table by scanning a barcode. This innovative approach made the dining experience seamless and convenient, allowing everyone at the table to easily place their orders or opt for a collective order. The decision to dine here was thanks to my wife, who discovered Mayflower through glowing reviews, and we're so glad she did. Our meal exceeded all expectations, with each dish arriving piping hot and bursting with flavor. The potstickers were a standout favorite, earning a perfect 10 out of 10 in my book. The wonton soup was equally delightful, and the combination chow mein and chicken were absolute winners. What truly elevated our experience was the exceptional service provided by the friendly and attentive staff. Their warm smiles and genuine hospitality made us feel right at home. In conclusion, Mayflower Restaurant is a hidden gem that surpasses expectations with its delectable cuisine and welcoming ambiance. Whether you're stopping by for lunch or dinner, this establishment comes highly recommended.
Small quaint location with great friendly staff. Food was good with authentic flavors and service was really fast! Can't ask for too much more
Mayflower was the first Chinese restaurant I visited when I moved to the bayarea. After more than 15 years I decided it was time to check them out again. This is one of the handful of American Chinese restaurants that stood the test of time. As is typical of these places, there was an old lady manning the counter and also acting as the server. And as is typical of these places, there was table at the end where they were prepping the fruits and veggies. It's truly remarkable how they are all similar in these ways! We got a couple of dishes and they came out at lightning speed. * Chowmein-3/5- delicious with lots of umami flavor but shockingly greasy. I mean I am used to oily noodles but this one exceeded some limits. *crispy salt and pepper eggplant-3/5- I had a stellar version of this dish at another restaurant in Sunnyvale and was stoked when I saw this on the menu here. Unfortunately it was a poor representation of the dish I loved there. The batter was too much and the dish felt heavy. The hot oil or sauce they had felt old and extremely vinegary as well, I would recommend avoiding it
