Discover Rattlesnake Bbq, a distinctive barbecue destination associated with 39128 Dexter Rd, Dexter, OR 97431, United States, where smoky meats, hearty portions, and Northwest personality come together in an unfussy setting. The Dexter location is currently listed as temporarily closed, so diners should confirm reopening information before planning a visit. Its listed phone number is +1 541-581-3000, and the typical price level is approximately $10–$20 per person.
The heart of the menu is straightforward American barbecue. Rattlesnake Bbq has featured smoked brisket, pulled pork, beef ribs, baby back ribs, and barbecue chicken, accompanied by traditional homestyle sides. The brand describes its approach as a Northwest fusion of barbecue and classic comfort-food accompaniments, giving the cooking regional character while keeping the flavors familiar.
For a first taste, Texas Brisket is the dish that best represents the kitchen. Slow-smoked beef develops a dark exterior crust while remaining tender inside, delivering the pronounced wood-smoke character serious barbecue fans look for. Spicy Brisket adds more intensity for guests who prefer extra heat, while Baby Back Ribs provide another signature option with rich pork flavor and a satisfying smoky finish. Brisket has also historically been identified as one of the restaurant’s strongest sellers.
Customer feedback reinforces those strengths. One diner praised the “variety of sauces” and described the meat as “always smoky and tender,” while another noted consistently strong flavor and generous portions. Other customer comments highlight the patio as an enjoyable place to dine and even mention karaoke as part of the restaurant’s relaxed local personality. A recurring limitation is that the heavy smoke flavor can be intense for diners who prefer milder barbecue.
The setting has traditionally leaned rustic and casual rather than polished. Outdoor patio dining adds considerable appeal in pleasant Oregon weather, creating the sort of laid-back atmosphere that suits barbecue, drinks, and groups of friends. This is less about elaborate presentation and more about generous food, smoky aromas, and an easygoing community feel.
Rattlesnake Bbq also stands apart through its evolution beyond a conventional restaurant. The brand currently promotes Rattlesnake BBQ Food Truck & Catering, continuing its Northwest-style barbecue through mobile service and catered events. That flexibility gives longtime fans another way to enjoy its smoked meats even while the Dexter location is temporarily unavailable.
Among local dining experiences around Dexter, Rattlesnake Bbq is most appealing to diners who prioritize pronounced smoke flavor, brisket, ribs, and unfussy comfort food. Once the Dexter location reopens—or when the food truck is nearby—barbecue lovers should consider stopping by for brisket, ribs, and a taste of this distinctive Oregon barbecue brand.
Got the prime rib family deal for Christmas this year. So amazing! We got all the sides we could need and sauces too (awesome horseradish!!) It's a bit away from town but totally worth it! Can't wait to go back and sit outside this summer Edit: came in on a rainy Sunday. We were the only people sitting outside in their very large outdoor area. Special was pork belly burnt ends, YUM. Had to stop ourselves from ordering one of everything! Total was $50 with 4 drinks, 1/2 rack of ribs and slaw, pork belly, Mac n cheese, Texas twinkes. Such an amazing deal!
This was our first visit, and we were prepared to order a big "Hoss" sampler of everything (from an online menu we found), but discovered that the menu had changed and that they weren't able to get it updated; so I am uploading images of their menus effective today (June 17, 2023). We ordered the special of the day, which was a half chicken, half pound of pork, and two sides (we chose Mac'n'Cheese and Cole Slaw). The portions were very generous, and all of the food was very tasty. We will be back for more! We also got to try a variety of BBQ sauces. One in particular that I liked was called "Snake Bite", although the other 4 were all good. The "Spicy BBQ" sauce definitely had some kick & burn to it. The chicken was moist and tasty all of the way through. We're already planning to pick some up to take along for our next picnic.
After living nearby for 30 years decided to give the BBQ a try and wow, was I impressed. We stopped by for lunch on a Friday, parking lot was empty at 12:15 pm. Appeared to be a one-man show - counter clerk, waiter, cook, and bartender. Based on his recommendation, my wife selected the brisket and a side of Mac n cheese, I chose the Bluto Pizza with made from scratch potato salad. HOME RUN! The brisket was cooked perfectly with a nice smokey flavor and several options for sauces. The 10” bbq pizza topped with brisket was outstanding. With a couple of sodas the total was less than $30 and we have plenty leftover for dinner later. Great lunch spot!
Absolutely great bbq, friendly staff and beautiful surroundings.
Stopped here for dinner as we were passing through town and the barbecue/desserts were absolutely off the chain! The staff was also amazing! We had an overall great experience and highly recommend this place!
The amount of times I've eaten here should be criminal LMAO I finally created a Google email and I've been wanting to leave a review for this place for so long. The food was amazing, I got a brisket and it was cooked perfectly the flavors were so nice!!!! Im so sad they're temporarily closed I love coming here and seeing all my friendly dexter friends Anyway I definitely recommend coming here
Fantastic service and a fantastic cook on the meat. Left me and my wife satisfied and the flavors. As they were closing up offered us an extra half rack of ribs. Always happy with a place that doesn't waste food.
Great food, great place, great service. Brisket plate is very good, and the burger was cooked to perfection. Large proportions, and not too bad price. The sauces are made in house and very good. Highly recommended!
